Remote | Full Time
Salary Range: $175,000–$190,000 + Comprehensive Benefits
A growing healthcare organization is seeking a seasoned Director of IT Architecture to lead enterprise-wide technology strategy across network, cloud, and systems architecture. This is a highly visible leadership role reporting to the Senior Director of IT Technology, responsible for aligning architecture decisions with business goals, regulatory requirements, and modern healthcare technology standards.
Position Summary
The Director of IT Architecture provides strategic and technical leadership across all aspects of enterprise architecture. This role oversees a high-performing team of Network, Cloud, and Systems Architects and partners closely with IT leadership, security, and business stakeholders to drive innovation, interoperability, scalability, and cost-effective technology solutions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Technology Roadmap

Define and execute a comprehensive IT architecture strategy aligned with clinical, operational, and business objectives

Lead and mentor network, cloud, and systems architecture teams, fostering collaboration and technical excellence

Establish and enforce IT governance, architecture standards, and best practices

Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and frameworks (HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST)

Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., microservices, AI/ML)
-
Provide strategic oversight of enterprise infrastructure to ensure availability, scalability, and performance

Apply strong financial acumen to ensure positive ROI for architecture-led initiatives
Architecture Leadership & Implementation

Oversee enterprise network architecture, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performance infrastructure

Lead cloud architecture initiatives, including hybrid and multi-cloud strategies with a focus on cost optimization and compliance

Guide systems architecture, ensuring secure integration of core business systems and healthcare platforms (including Epic EHR/EMR)
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

Act as a key liaison between architecture teams and IT leadership, translating business needs into technical strategies

Partner with Information Security teams to define and enforce cybersecurity frameworks

Collaborate with cloud and platform teams on automation and tooling (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, AWS CDK, CloudFormation)

Engage with vendors, system integrators, and cloud providers to maximize technology investments

Promote alignment across infrastructure, application, and security teams
Performance Management & Risk Mitigation

Establish KPIs and metrics to measure architecture effectiveness

Identify and mitigate risks related to network vulnerabilities, cloud security, and system performance

Optimize IT spend through efficient, scalable solutions

Continuously assess system performance to support organizational growth
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or related field
-
10+ years of progressive IT architecture experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role managing network, cloud, and systems architecture teams
-
Demonstrated experience assessing, testing, and implementing modern platform visibility and observability solutions (DataDog, Dynatrace, New Relic, Prometheus/Grafana)

Strong expertise in:

Network architecture (SD-WAN, VPNs, firewalls, healthcare data exchange networks)

Cloud architecture (AWS, hybrid cloud solutions, AWS Well-Architected Framework)
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree

Cloud and security certifications such as:

AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Security Specialty

Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect
-
CISSP, CCNP, HITRUST, or FinOps
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Deep expertise in systems architecture, including M365, virtualization, storage, and disaster recovery

Working knowledge of healthcare IT standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM)

Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001) and healthcare compliance

Fluency in Agile and Waterfall methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, Project)

Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement skills
-
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and a patient-centered mindset
