Job Description
Title: Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health
Location: Brooklyn, NY (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Compensation: $145,000 – $155,000
Employment Type: Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire
Overview: A leading hospital system in Brooklyn is seeking a Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health to oversee inpatient psychiatric services. This role will partner closely with senior leadership to manage unit operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of an inpatient behavioral health/psychiatric unit
- Collaborate with Director-level leadership on clinical and operational strategy
- Ensure compliance with NYSDOH, OMH, DOHMH, JCAHO, and other regulatory bodies
- Monitor admissions, discharges, and patient flow to ensure quality care and outcomes
- Lead performance improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary quality programs
- Prepare and analyze clinical, operational, and regulatory reporting data
- Manage staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Provide administrative leadership and 24-hour operational oversight
- Support survey readiness and accreditation processes
- Promote a culture of patient-centered care and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- 5+ years RN experience
- 5+ years psychiatric/behavioral health clinical experience
- 2+ years leadership/management experience
- MUST HAVE: Experience managing a psychiatric unit within a hospital setting
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and quality improvement methodologies (CQI, RCA)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
