Job Description

Job Title: Deaf or Hard of Hearing Teacher
Compensation: $60.00 – $65.00 per hour, based on experience
Location: Philadelphia, PA 19136 – IN PERSON (in students’ home)

Position Summary
RCM Health Care Services is seeking a Deaf or Hard of Hearing Teacher to provide IN PERSON services to students attending a cyber school in Pennsylvania. This is a part-time, caseload-building opportunity supporting students with hearing impairments through individualized instruction and specialized educational services. The teacher will collaborate with students, families, and school professionals to support academic, communication, and developmental needs. This is a W-2 contract position following the academic calendar.

Responsibilities
Schedule / Shift

  • Shift details: School-year schedule; will follow the academic calendar
  • Hours per week: Part-time / caseload building
  • Contract length:  School Year
  • Service delivery: In Person – 3 sessions per quarter, 45 min sessions each

Key Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized instruction based on each student's needs, abilities, and educational goals.
  • Provide instruction in academic subjects while supporting auditory perception, receptive and expressive language, lip reading, and communication skills.
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Collaborate with parents, school personnel, and other professional team members to support student progress and educational needs.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grade, progress, and other required educational records.

Requirements
Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Licenses & Certifications

  • Required: Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certificate in Special Education to teach students who are deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing impaired

Skills

  • Knowledge of child growth and development, including the impact of hearing impairments on psychological and educational development
  • Knowledge of methods, principles, and practices for teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Ability to use and understand signed English and utilize available sensory channels to support student learning
  • Ability to prepare, plan, and deliver lessons while establishing effective working relationships with students, families, and educational professionals
