Nurse Professional Development Specialist (Registered Nurse)
The Nurse Professional Development Specialist is a professional nurse who serves in a collaborative role with the department nursing staff to provide continuing education in regards to best practices, and updated technology and equipment, . The Nurse Professional Development Specialist works with department leadership staff to assure training compliance with regulatory standards including Joint Commission (JC), NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH), CMS Meaningful Use (MU), OSHA/EOC, Safety/Infection Control, CLIA, Quality Care Audits, and DPH licensure requirement.
The role of Nursing Professional Development Specialist encompasses the continuum of learning and professional development for maintenance of competence in role performance. This continuum consists of assessment of staff learning needs, identification of program goals and objectives, planning and implementation of evidenced-based activities designed in positive learning or practice environments. The final aspect of the continuum consists in the evaluation for staff change in knowledge, skills and behaviors leading to improved patient care and quality outcomes.
The Nurse Professional Development Specialist is accountable for maintaining currency with own nursing practice and demonstrates commitment to own professional development and continuing education.
Education

BSN Required, MSN Preferred or in process

BLS, ACLS and PALS certification required
Experience
-
Minimum of 3-5 years licensed nursing practice experience in an Emergency Department setting.
Skills/Abilities
-
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office required, Epic experience preferred

Must be able to work in a team setting and collaboratively with staff

Bilingual Spanish speaking skills preferred, but not required
Salary $82,000 to $102,000 (Depending on Experience) with Excellent Benefits Package!!
