Job Description

Position Summary:
A School Nurse plays a vital role in promoting and protecting the health, safety, and well-being of students within the school community. This position involves providing direct healthcare services, managing chronic conditions, administering first aid, and responding to medical emergencies. The school nurse also conducts health screenings, maintains accurate medical records, and ensures compliance with health regulations.
Beyond clinical care, the role includes health education, disease prevention, and collaboration with teachers, parents, and community health providers to support students’ physical, emotional, and social development. The school nurse serves as a trusted resource, fostering a safe and healthy learning environment where students can thrive academically and personally.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule / Shifts 
  • Full-time and part-time hours are available.
  • Monday thru Friday work week; daytime hours.
  • Excellent, weekly pay            
  • Key Duties
  • Conducting student hearing and vision screenings
  • Educating students on hygiene and safety practices
  • Dispensing prescription medications to students per physician instructions
  • Verifying vaccination records
  • Taking students’ temperatures when fever is suspected
  • Administering first aid and CPR
  • Treating minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes and bruises
  • Contacting parents when students are ill or injured
Requirements
Education

  • Earn a nursing degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

Licenses & Certifications

  • Must have current NY RN License
  • Must have current CPR card, Malpractice Insurance, and full Physical
  • Strongly preferred- 1 year of RN experience in any field
  • Pediatric experience is a plus, but not mandatory
