Physician Assistant – Oncology – 1199 Union Role
Location
: Brooklyn, NY
Salary: $139k-$176k depending on experience, 1199 Union role with benefits.
Schedule: 5 days a week, either 9 am to 5 pm or 8 am to 4 pm, with no weekends required.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties as per the Department/Division “Physician Assistant Delineation of Privileges” after appropriate training and approval by the Chairman.
  • With approval of supervising physician, orders diagnostic and laboratory tests.  Reports results of all clinical and diagnostic findings to supervising physician and with him/her, communicates results of medical examination to patients.
  • Formulates appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans, writes appropriate orders.
  • Performs procedures on patients as defined in the Department/Division Delineation of Privileges.
  • Documents all diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and other relevant information in patient’s chart.
  • Notifies attending physician of any change of patient’s status or unexpected events requiring direct physician consultation.
  • Participates in patient care rounds, teaching conferences and appropriate quality assurance meetings.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, compliance, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Assists in operating room as needed (1st assist, or 2nd assist).
  • Counsels patients regarding health education, disease prevention, entrance to primary care systems.  With supervising physician’s approval, refers patients to appropriate consulting sub-specialists.
Requirements:
  • Two years’ experience in Cardiology preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited PA program.
  • Licensed by the NY State Department of Education.
  • Board certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification for Physicians Assistant).
  • BCLS certification, ACLS certification if departmental requirement.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification (Stroke only).
  • Valid DEA number.
