Day Habilitation Specialist / Bilingual Mandarin Speaking Direct Support Professional

Direct Support Professional Job Description Summary:

• Assists in providing self-care training and group activities to individuals with intellectual disabilities by performing the following duties.

Direct Support Professional Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Conduct groups/activities in a group setting for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities the field.
• Supervise individuals at all times/report all untoward events/incidents to supervisor in a timely manner and to the Justice Center as needed.
• Sign daily checklists to attest to groups conducted and individuals who attended.
• Ensure that Sign-In sheets are properly completed and stored.
• Assist with serving lunch according to CACFP regulations.
• Provide needed programmatic information at all program meetings, both in and out of the Group Day Habilitation/Supplemental Group Day Habilitation Programs.
• Provide hands-on programming for the individuals in the Group Day Habilitation/Supplemental Group Day Habilitation Programs with full understanding of the population and that individuals may be prone to extreme behavioral problems and outbursts.
• Maintain inventory of training group materials.
• Responsible for completing Group Notes on a daily basis and calendars on a monthly basis.
• Capable of making recommendations for program revisions.
• Attend meetings as needed and directed.
• Ensure understanding of individuals’ safeguards.
• Remain updated on individuals’ goals and staff actions.
• Seek clarity from the Habilitation Specialists/Supervisor or the individuals’ charts when uncertain about the individual’s goals, staff actions, or safeguards.
• Responsible for creating group activities and assisting with lesson plans that incorporate the individuals’ goals and staff actions.
• Ensure that behavior notes are completed on a daily basis and that the behavior binder is maintained in the classroom.
• Answer to assigned Habilitation Specialist(s)/Supervisors and complete all work assignments and documentation.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisors, Assistant Director of Group Day Habilitation Services, and/or Director of Group Day Habilitation Services.

Direct Support Professional Compensation:

• $16.50 – $17/hr depending on experience

Direct Support Professional Qualifications:

• Bilingual in Mandarin required
• Experience not mandatory
• Orientation will be provided
