Job Description

Job Title – Correctional Certified Nursing Assistant
Pay – This role offers a fixed compensation rate of $18.00 per hour
Location: Columbia, SC 29210

Position Summary
A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a correctional facility supports nursing staff in delivering basic patient care to an incarcerated population within a secure environment. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, observing and reporting changes in condition, and maintaining a clean and safe care setting. CNAs work under the supervision of an RN or LPN while adhering to strict safety, security, and confidentiality protocols. The overall purpose of the role is to support patient health and hygiene, contribute to continuity of care, and help maintain the safe and orderly operation of the facility.

Key Duties
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, grooming, feeding, and mobility support
• Take and record vital signs, monitor patient condition, and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Support intake processes and sick call by preparing patients and ensuring exam areas are ready
• Maintain a clean, safe environment while following infection control, safety, and security protocols
Skills
• Strong patient care and observation skills, including accurate vital signs and recognizing changes in condition
• Security awareness and ability to maintain professional boundaries in a controlled, high-risk environment
• Clear communication and teamwork with nursing staff, providers, and custody personnel
• Emotional resilience and de-escalation skills when working with diverse and challenging populations

Responsibilities
• Shift details: Day and Night shift openings! 6am-7pm, 6pm-7am, every other weekend required
• Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week
• Three 13 hour shifts with 30 minute unpaid lunch
• Contract length: 13 week Contract

Requirements
• Must have at least 1 year Recent CNA Experience
• Must have South Carolina CNA License
• AHA or American Red Cross BLS required
• TB test within the last year
