School Psychologist Position Details

• Location: Orinda, CA
• Schedule: Full-time (1.0 FTE)
• Caseload information: Middle School students
• Assignment Duration:
• Remainder of the current school year with potential extension into next school year
• Work Setting: On-site, in-person

School Psychologist Job Responsibilities: as a School Psychologist, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.

Responsibilities include:
School Psychologist Assessment & Evaluation

• Conduct comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments to evaluate cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral functioning.
• Administer, interpret, and analyze standardized assessments, behavioral observations, and student records.
• Write detailed evaluation reports with data-driven recommendations for individualized student support.
• Identify students with disabilities and support the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

School Psychologist Intervention & Support Services

• Develop and implement intervention strategies to address learning challenges, emotional regulation, and behavioral concerns.
• Provide direct counseling services to students on an individual or small-group basis to support emotional well-being, social skills, and problem-solving.
• Collaborate with teachers to design and implement classroom-based behavioral and academic interventions.
• Assist with the development and implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
• Support crisis intervention efforts and provide immediate support during emergencies.

School Psychologist Collaboration & Consultation

• Work closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop student-centered strategies that promote success in the classroom.
• Participate in Student Study Teams (SSTs), IEP meetings, and 504 Plan meetings to develop and review student support plans.
• Provide consultation to parents and guardians, offering strategies for supporting students’ academic and emotional development at home.
• Serve as a liaison between the school and external service providers, including therapists, medical professionals, and social workers.

School Psychologist Prevention & School-Wide Initiatives

• Contribute to school-wide mental health and wellness initiatives to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Develop and conduct staff training sessions on topics such as trauma-informed practices, behavior management, and special education compliance.
• Lead group interventions focused on peer relationships, conflict resolution, and coping skills.
• Support school leadership in implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

School Psychologist Compensation:

• $40 – $59/hr., depending on experience
