2 Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) needed near Denver, CO area for next school year
Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) – 2 Openings
Location: Denver, CO Area
Start Date: August 18, 2025
Duration: Through End of October (Possible Extension through November)
Pay Range: $50–$65/hour (based on experience)
We are hiring two Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) for school-based leave coverage in the Denver, CO area. These are itinerant roles supporting students across multiple school sites and grade levels. Assignments begin August 18 and run through the end of October, with the possibility of extension through November.
Teachers of the Visually Impaired Position 1 – Full-Time (1.0 FTE)

Grades 3–10

Caseload: 9 students

40 hours/week
Teachers of the Visually Impaired Position 2 – Part-Time (0.6 FTE)

5 school sites
-
Grades 4–12, including a transition program

Caseload: 5 students

Approx. 24 hours/week
Teachers of the Visually Impaired Essential Responsibilities:
-
Deliver direct and consultative services as outlined in each student’s IEP
-
Provide instruction in:
-
Braille reading and writing
-
Assistive technology (screen readers, magnifiers, etc.)
-
Compensatory skills, including organizational and daily living skills
-

Adapt classroom materials into accessible formats (Braille, large print, audio, tactile graphics)
-
Support students in developing self-advocacy, independence, and access to curriculum
-
Conduct functional vision assessments and Learning Media Assessments (as needed)
-
Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, special educators, related service providers, and families

Train school staff on accommodations, assistive devices, and inclusion strategies

Monitor student progress and document services provided

Travel between assigned school sites as needed to provide support

Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on student programming
Teachers of the Visually Impaired Minimum Qualifications:
-
Valid Colorado teaching license with Visual Impairment endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)
-
Degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field
-
Experience working with students with visual impairments across K–12 settings preferred
-
Proficiency in Braille and comfort with assistive technology
-
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
-
Reliable transportation to travel between school sites
-
Ability to manage a flexible caseload across multiple campuses
