RCM Health Care is seeking a highly-qualified, Special Education Teachers for Autistic populations in Westland, MI who are dedicated to providing a superior education for students.  Must have ASD endorsement.

• Plan a program of activities that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students with disabilities
• Create an environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate for students
• with disabilities within the parameters of the Common Core State Standards and Dynamic Learning Maps
• Schedule, attend, and conduct Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Educational Planning Team (IEPT) meetings within required timelines
• Orient the learning process toward the achievement of specific IEP goals
• Evaluate the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provide progress reports when necessary utilizing smarter balanced summative, interim and formative assessments
• Gather as much factual data as possible on students with suspected problems and refer to the screening and evaluation team
• Establish and maintain positive rapport with parents
• Prepare and conduct parent orientation
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for program paraprofessionals and volunteers
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
• Attend staff meetings when requested
• Regular and predictable attendance

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Must have a BS or BA from an accredited University with an ASD endorsement or willing to obtain certification
• Michigan Department of Education Teaching Certification
• Candidates must meet Highly Qualified teacher requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and is frequently required to move about the inside of the building.  This employee will be required to open and close books, operate office equipment and computers, and will need to be able to position themselves to reach under desks, sit next to students and interact with students sitting on the floor, etc.  The person in this position frequently communicates with teachers, parents and students, including reading to students, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  The employee must be able to engage in the physical management of students in order to maintain a safe environment for students and others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.     The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with students, staff and occasionally with the public.  At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
