Executive Director – Independent Living
Westchester County, NY
A premier Independent Living community in Westchester County, NY, is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Executive Director to lead their exceptional team. This role offers the opportunity to guide a vibrant senior community rooted in service, hospitality, and resident well-being.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Vice President of Senior Housing, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership and overall administration of the Independent Living facility. This includes ensuring exceptional quality of care and services, high resident satisfaction, engaged and motivated staff, operational excellence, and strong financial performance.
The Executive Director develops, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, and programs that enhance residents’ independence, well-being, and overall quality of life. This leader oversees all operational areas including Hospitality, Dining, Programming, Sales, Maintenance, and the Business Office.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across all departments.
- Guide planning, policy development, and key decision-making initiatives.
- Ensure long-term financial stability and effective resource management.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily facility operations, including staffing, service delivery, and compliance.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all residents.
- Implement policies and procedures that promote efficiency, consistency, and excellence.
Financial Management
- Prepare, monitor, and manage the annual budget.
- Ensure financial sustainability by controlling costs and identifying revenue opportunities.
- Analyze and report on financial performance to senior leadership.
Employee Engagement & Development
- Foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate team members across departments.
- Ensure staff adherence to organizational policies and standards of care.
Resident Relations & Support
- Cultivate strong relationships with residents and ensure their needs are consistently met.
- Oversee programming and services that promote social engagement, enrichment, and independence.
- Serve as primary contact for families, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
Community Relations
- Represent the organization with local partners, agencies, and stakeholders.
- Promote the community’s mission and services through events and public engagements.
- Strengthen community awareness and external relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Services, Public Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in Independent Living, Assisted Living, or senior housing operations.
- Demonstrated success managing budgets, operations, and staff in a service-driven environment.
- Familiarity with Jewish culture and tradition preferred; experience with Kosher dining is a plus.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven financial acumen and operational decision-making ability.
- Compassionate, resident-centered approach with a passion for enhancing quality of life.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 annually (DOE)
