Reporting to the Senior Director of the IT PMO, this role serves as the central point of alignment across all EHR teams—overseeing governance, portfolio tracking, roadmap development, and executive reporting.

The EHR Portfolio Manager acts as the EHR representative within the IT PMO governance framework and ensures project and portfolio management standards, tools, and workflows are optimized to support EHR teams. This role partners closely with project managers, EHR leadership, clinical stakeholders, and executive leadership to ensure alignment with organizational strategy and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

EHR Executive Roadmap

  • Develop, maintain, and evolve a 3–5 year EHR strategic roadmap aligned with senior leadership priorities

  • Facilitate annual EHR roadmap planning sessions with EHR directors and executive stakeholders

  • Lead continuous improvement of roadmap tools, processes, and strategic alignment frameworks

  • Communicate roadmap priorities and impacts to EHR leadership and key stakeholder groups

EHR Portfolio Management

  • Track and monitor EHR projects and programs, including scope, dependencies, milestones, costs, and resourcing

  • Develop business cases, financial analyses, and ROI assessments to support executive decision-making

  • Prepare executive-level presentations, dashboards, and visualizations that synthesize complex data

  • Ensure alignment of EHR initiatives with system-wide priorities and capital planning cycles

  • Monitor ServiceNow INC/REQ queues to support triage and SLA compliance

  • Ensure EHR teams maintain accurate data in portfolio tools such as Planview and ServiceNow

  • Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual portfolio reporting to internal and external stakeholders

  • Establish, reinforce, and align EHR project management standards with IT PMO governance

EHR Governance & Committees

  • Facilitate EHR governance forums, including monthly gate meetings and weekly portfolio leadership meetings

  • Maintain governance documentation, committee charters, and reporting for IT governance bodies

  • Support enterprise data governance and EHR knowledge management initiatives

  • Continuously improve governance effectiveness to support organizational goals

Project Management Leadership

  • Mentor and support EHR project managers and “accidental PMs” in PMO standards, Agile and Waterfall methodologies

  • Guide portfolio resourcing, work allocation, and PPM data accuracy

  • Coach project managers to enhance performance and delivery outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project and/or portfolio management, including budgeting and prioritization

  • Demonstrated experience leading IT and cross-functional healthcare initiatives

  • Experience facilitating project governance and enterprise portfolio reporting

  • Hands-on experience with project and portfolio management tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or Portfolio Management Professional certification (preferred, not required)

  • Epic certifications (preferred, not required)

  • Strong experience with Epic, ServiceNow, and/or Planview

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Expert-level understanding of portfolio financial management and governance

  • Strong knowledge of PMBOK, Agile project, product, and portfolio management

  • Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills

  • Ability to lead, influence, and challenge stakeholders constructively

  • Proven ability to manage large, high-visibility project portfolios with complex risk profiles

  • Collaborative leadership style with a strong customer and outcomes focus

This is a highly visible, strategic role for a seasoned EHR and portfolio management leader who thrives in a complex healthcare environment and enjoys influencing at the enterprise level.
