Special Education Teacher (ASD & Resource)
Compensation Range: $57-62/hour

Location: Westland, MI; Onsite – School Setting

Position Summary
Resource and ASD Special Education Teachers are needed to support our district partners in Westland, MI to provide social-emotional learning support for students  through implementation of SEL competencies and instruction. Key Duties
Requirements

• Plan a program of activities that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students with disabilities
• Create an environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate for students with disabilities within the parameters of the Common Core State Standards and Dynamic Learning Maps
• Schedule, attend, and conduct Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Educational Planning Team (IEPT) meetings within required timelines
• Orient the learning process toward the achievement of specific IEP goals
• Evaluate the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provide progress reports when necessary utilizing Smarter Balanced summative, interim, and formative assessments
• Gather as much factual data as possible on students with suspected problems and refer to the screening and evaluation team  
• Establish and maintain positive rapport with parents
• Prepare and conduct parent orientation
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for program paraprofessionals and volunteers • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence  
• Attend staff meetings when requested.
• Regular and predictable attendance

Education

• Must have a BS or BA from an accredited University with an ASD endorsement
• Michigan Department of Education Elementary Teaching Certification  
• Candidates must meet Highly Qualified teacher requirements
• Valid MI Driver's License.

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid MI Driver's License.
• Must have good organizational skills
• Must have good written and oral language ability
• Good interpersonal skills with children, parents, and staff
• Ability to operate computers and related software
