Job Title: Phlebotomy Manager (Inpatient)

Compensation 
Salary Range: $85,000 – $120,000 per year

Location: Boston Area, MA – Onsite

Position Summary

As the Phlebotomy Manager (Inpatient), you will provide operational leadership and oversight for inpatient phlebotomy services within a leading academic healthcare organization. This role is responsible for managing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting quality initiatives, and maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety. Working closely with laboratory, nursing, and medical leadership, you will drive operational excellence, workforce development, and continuous process improvement.

Key Duties:

• Lead and manage inpatient phlebotomy operations and laboratory staff while promoting a culture of quality, safety, and service excellence
• Ensure compliance with CAP, The Joint Commission (TJC), CLIA, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements
• Manage staffing, scheduling, productivity, overtime, departmental budgets, and on-call operational support
• Monitor quality metrics, incident reporting, accreditation readiness, and corrective action plans to improve performance and patient outcomes
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, competency assessments, performance management, and professional development of department staff

Requirements

Education

• Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related biological science from an accredited institution
• Preferred (if applicable): N/A

Licenses & Certifications

• Required: N/A
• Additional certifications (if applicable): ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, or equivalent laboratory certification preferred

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of laboratory regulatory and accreditation standards, including CAP and The Joint Commission requirements
• Proven leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and team development skills
• Experience managing laboratory operations, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance programs
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across multidisciplinary teams
