Job Description
Senior Director of Training and Organizational Development
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in NYC office, 3 days remote
Schedule: Monday through Friday, standard business hours
Salary Range: $210,000 – $230,000
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Senior Director of Training and Organizational Development leads the strategy, design, and execution of enterprise-wide training and organizational development programs. This role partners closely with leadership to assess needs, implement innovative learning solutions, and drive performance and employee engagement across the organization.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in adult learning principles, change management, performance measurement, and instructional design, along with a strong background in leadership development and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Training & Development Leadership
- Assess company-wide developmental needs and translate findings into high-impact training and development programs.
- Develop and maintain a training delivery schedule that aligns with organizational needs and participant availability.
- Evaluate existing programs and introduce new initiatives that align with strategic goals.
- Serve as a thought partner to leadership on workforce development and performance improvement strategies.
Organizational Development & Change Management
- Support enterprise-wide change management efforts, ensuring initiatives are aligned with organizational priorities.
- Partner with senior leaders to diagnose organizational gaps, recommend improvements, and implement interventions to enhance effectiveness.
- Define and monitor key performance metrics to measure workforce performance and improvement opportunities.
Instructional Design & Delivery
- Lead the development of effective training programs, materials, and job aids across modalities (e.g., classroom, virtual, and e-learning).
- Deliver training and facilitate learning through coaching, group facilitation, and online platforms.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and revise as needed based on performance metrics and learner feedback.
Performance Management & Leadership Coaching
- In partnership with the Chief People Officer, develop and refine performance management tools and frameworks.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, employee development, and talent growth through integrated performance initiatives.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with external training vendors and consultants to ensure high-quality program delivery.
- Serve as a key resource and advisor for all internal stakeholders regarding learning and development initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Master’s Degree (MA or MS) in Organizational Development, HR, Education, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in training and organizational development.
- Minimum 6 years of direct supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering both in-person and virtual training programs.
- Proven experience in performance measurement, instructional design, and organizational effectiveness.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Deep understanding of adult learning principles and instructional methodologies.
- Strong background in human resource functions including employee relations, talent development, and systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills; ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Experience in healthcare settings is preferred.
