Job Description
Director of Pharmacy (Hospital Based)
Compensation
Salary Range: $185,000 – $195,000 per year
Location: Queens, NY

Position Summary
As the Director of Pharmacy in a hospital setting, you will lead the Pharmacy Department, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This leadership role is responsible for developing departmental goals, managing pharmacy operations, and providing strategic direction to support patient care across inpatient and outpatient services. You will collaborate with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary teams to optimize medication management and patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
Schedule / Shift
- Shift details: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Hours per week: 40
Key Duties:
- Oversee all pharmacy operations including dispensing, purchasing, inventory management, and regulatory compliance
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and departmental objectives aligned with hospital standards
- Supervise pharmacy staff, manage scheduling, and support professional development and training programs
- Ensure compliance with controlled substance regulations, formulary management, and medication safety practices
- Collaborate with committees and leadership teams to drive quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence
Requirements
Education
- Required: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
Licenses & Certifications
- Required: Active New York State Pharmacist license
- Additional certifications (if applicable): Authorization to sign NYS Official Prescriptions
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, pharmacology, and regulatory standards
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience in a clinical setting
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities across multidisciplinary teams
