Job Description

Nurse Manager – Ambulatory Services
Compensation
Salary Range: $160,000 – $164,800 per year

Position Summary
The Nurse Manager – Ambulatory Services is a dual clinical and administrative leader responsible for overseeing patient care delivery and daily operations across primary care and multi-specialty outpatient practices. This position ensures the seamless integration of clinical excellence, operational efficiency, quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with providers, frontline staff, ambulatory operations, and senior leadership, the Nurse Manager drives strategic initiatives that enhance access, quality, and performance across outpatient services. Responsibilities

Key Duties

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based care across primary care and multi-specialty ambulatory practices.
  • Direct daily clinic operations including staffing, workflow optimization, provider support, room utilization, supply management, onboarding, and operational continuity planning.
  • Lead quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory readiness, accreditation compliance, and performance monitoring initiatives while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and leadership.
  • Manage practice operations including budgeting, revenue cycle oversight, vendor coordination, inventory management, productivity tracking, and implementation of operational improvements.
  • Foster a patient-centered culture through staff development, coaching, service recovery, multidisciplinary collaboration, communication of organizational initiatives, and performance management.

Requirements
Education

  • Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration

Licenses & Certifications

  • Required: Current, unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License

Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in a leadership or management role within an outpatient, ambulatory, or multi-specialty clinic environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of practice management experience, including oversight of multi-physician practices, operational workflows, staffing, and resource management.
  • Strong knowledge of ambulatory healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, quality improvement methodologies, budgeting, revenue cycle operations, and productivity benchmarks.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills with proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and healthcare technology platforms.
